Traffic
Traffic is the number of trips that pass through a store, zone, category or bay in a given period.
Store traffic vs zone traffic
Door counters only know how many people came in. Shoppermotion counts traffic in every zone, so a category manager can see that 92% of trips pass the main aisle but only 9% reach the back-left corner.
Traffic is counted per trip, not per person: a family sharing one trolley is one trip.
Traffic penetration
Traffic penetration is the share of all store trips that visited a given zone. It is the first step of every conversion funnel and the base for pricing in-store media.
