Blind spots

Blind spots are areas of the store that few trips reach or that shoppers cross without stopping, often invisible when you only look at sales.

How they are detected

Teams that only look at aggregated sales face a black box: a category may sell little because nobody gets there. Heatmaps and flow maps reveal zones with low traffic penetration or very low dwell.

Typical causes

  • Dead-end aisles and corners behind tall fixtures.
  • Shortcuts that let shoppers skip a section.
  • Destination categories placed at the front, so shoppers never need to go deeper.
