One of the first actions we take during the deployment phase is map digitalization. It is a simple process by which we turn a picture into a digital format so we can upload it to our dashboard. As a general rule, our customers share layouts in PDF format like the following:
We transform visually the above map into a simplified version that includes the most relevant information: fixtures and shelves, checkouts, escalators, refrigerators, aisles and entrances/exits.
Once we upload the map to our dashboard, we delimit the different categories and sections so that the metrics can be automatically generated for each particular area of the store. Hence, map digitalization is an essential step since this will be the starting point of the customer behavior understanding process.
